About

I am Hahn Ryu. I live between two times and two places: the frontier of technology, where I have spent fifteen years, and Hahoe in Andong, a village that has held five hundred years of records, rites, and silence. Resonant Circuit is where the two meet. The Korean site is at hahnryu.com, and the Korean introduction, which goes deeper into why this blog exists, is at /about/.

I build measurement instruments for the internal dynamics of large language models: what alignment training does to a model’s hidden-state trajectories across repeated generations, and how to test such claims with calibrated statistics. I also write HGP (Hahoe Genesis Protocol), a protocol for protecting and proving the first moment of a record a person leaves behind. The through-line of my career, from blockchain governance infrastructure and national policy advisory to building Korea’s early startup ecosystem, is one question: why coordination systems fail before technologies do, and what keeps complex systems coherent when scaling stops working. I describe this transition as a movement from 2 to 3, from optimization-driven control toward coherence-based structures.
